Richard Collins is considered an expert in the design and placement of difficult and specialty insurance programs.

He Graduated from the University of New Orleans with a Bachelor of Science in Finance in December, 1982. Although he first began his career with Wausau Insurance, he has extensive experience with both the brokerage side of the business and the Independent Insurance Agency system. Unlike most insurance agents, he has a thorough understanding of the placement of most types of commercial insurance coverage's. His knowledge and expertise has been essential in designing large retention and deductible programs.

He is recognized by his clients as being able to get 1^st party claims paid either by helping the insurance company understand the true nature of the claim or by pinpointing particular coverage clauses.

With hands on experience in the construction, marine and transportation industries, he has designed and placed coverage for not only bus terminals and fleets with up to 550 vehicles but also the insurance needs of small trucking companies. In the marine industry he has designed programs for the oil industry as well as part of the "Blue Water" fleet. Acted as a consultant to a regional brokerage identifying misplaced coverage for their insured's.

He designed a specialty workers compensation program for Air Conditioning and Heating Contractors throughout Louisiana. In addition, he has designed programs specifically for sub contractors for nearly every type of tradesman. As a licensed homebuilder and a member of the Greater New Orleans Homebuilders Association he has practical and first hand experience in payroll and safety audits.

He is a strong believer in a solid formal education in insurance and risk management, He is an Accredited Advisor in Insurance, a Certified Insurance Counselor and a Certified Risk Manager. He has taken advanced courses in Trucking, Life Insurance, Workers Compensation, Employee Benefits, Personal Lines, Agency Management, Commercial Casualty and Commercial Property offered through the National Alliance for Insurance Education and the Society of Certified Insurance Counselors. He has studied advanced topics in risk management through Florida State University.

On the faculty at the University of New Orleans, he is an adjunct instructor in Risk Management and Insurance.

Always a producer, he has been fortunate to have served on the Board of Directors of an Independent Insurance Agency on both the finance and management committees. He has been active in the community in both social and professional organizations and currently serves as one of the co-chairs for the alumni relations committee for the Business Alumni Council for the College of Business at the University of New Orleans.
